**Description**


**JOB SUMMARY:**


This Senior Enterprise Cloud Architect is a full-time senior level position with Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) and offers challenge, visibility and a chance to make a difference in healthcare technology. Develops the design, creation, and management of Enterprise Cloud Architecture. Provides information for the financial, operational, and technical feasibility of adopting external cloud-based IT platforms and infrastructure services. Ensures overall architecture is maintained in a coherent manner with considerations for quality and security. Designs, develops, enhances and maintains processes. Acts as a key member for planning of strategic, tactical and operational initiatives. May lead projects. Coaches development of other employees. Participates in the implementation of complex projects.


**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:**


+ Assists with Strategic Planning and short- and long-term roadmaps.


+ Provides scalable platforms for deployment of applications and infrastructure.


+ Provides trend analysis with actionable items.


+ Manages projects / processes, working independently with limited supervision.


+ Coaches and reviews the work of lower level professionals.

**PREFERRED SKILLS:**


+ Experience with cloud products: Azure and Amazon AWS


+ Familiar with infrastructure as code, specifically Terraform and Azure Resource Manager


+ Configuration and deployment experience in two or more of the following: Virtual networks, Express Routes, Standard/Premium storage, Azure AD etc


+ Create functional design specifications, Azure reference architectures, and assist with other project deliverables as needed adoption


+ Well versed in designing and building Azure solutions that include high availability, multi-region and multi-set architectures using virtual networks, availability sets and affinity groups


+ Provide recommendations with respect to cloud migrations and prepare technical implementation roadmaps for Azure


+ Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, HashiCorp Vault, and SDLC is a benefit as well


+ Collaborate with other project teams on technical solutions and help improve our service


**TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES:**


_AD HOC REPORTING - (INTERMEDIATE):_ Demonstrates mastery of reporting in practical applications of a difficult nature. Able to sort through data to identify patterns and establish relationships. Possesses sufficient knowledge, training, and experience to be capable of successfully delivering complex reports from active and archived information in state-of-the-art databases without requiring support and instruction from others. Demonstrates knowledge of data mining and data warehousing.


_CONFIGURATION MANAGEMENT AND PLANNING - (ADVANCED):_ Demonstrates the ability to apply diverse areas of business knowledge to successfully meet broad objectives independently. Able to communicate intelligently with users, customers, management, and business leaders on the impact of technology changes. Demonstrates ability to anticipate resource needs, identify discrete tasks, set priorities, define dependencies, schedule activities, and organize work for a diverse, multi-functional configuration plan. Competently handles multiple plans and projects simultaneously managing to commitments and deadlines while successfully navigating dependencies. Improves workflows and systems in the environment as plan results dictate.


_CORPORATE SYSTEMS ARCH STANDARDS (INTERMEDIATE):_ Has detailed knowledge of the architecture of the systems which support more than one core business area. Demonstrates knowledge of how the core business areas' applications and support systems are structured, how various components and parts interact, as well as what protocols and interfaces are used for communications and cooperation between modules and components. Participates in the overall planning and design of the specific core business systems. Able to train and educate others in the structure and components of systems architecture for those core business areas.


_EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES (ADVANCED):_ Demonstrates high levels of knowledge in new and emerging technologies. Contributes to strategic planning in areas which require expert knowledge and experience. Participates in advanced technology efforts for the company, evaluating and testing new products to determine their value and applicability to the organization. Able to blend legacy systems with new systems and technology in a seamless solution.
