ExxonMobil EMTEC/URC has an opening for a research engineer/scientist in our Environmental Technology Development group.
The successful candidate will join an enthusiastic group of scientists and engineers responsible for the discovery, development, and operationalization of novel technologies to better detect, quantify, and reduce methane/GHG emissions from oil and gas operations.
This position will be based in Spring, TX. Primary Job Functions Develop, evaluate and pilot advanced technologies to detect, quantify, and abate GHG emissions in oil and gas operations Develop methods to improve quantification of methane/GHG emissions based on measurements, engineering models, and fusion of disparate sets of data Collaborate with internal (environmental, regulatory, operations) and external (academia, industry) teams to execute high-value research projects to improve methane monitoring and reduce emissions across the industry Present technical information in industry and external conferences effectively, participate in technical discussions with both state and federal agencies Serve as a subject matter expert on topics related to methane emissions to support operations and help manage regulatory and voluntary reporting requirements Job Requirements PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Atmospheric Chemistry, or related discipline with relevant thesis work Strong ability and interest to work on abstract problems and create novel solutions Excellent project management and communication skills (written and oral), including an ability to communicate technical information to non-scientists
