The mission of our team is to unlock the power of data to drive meaningful clinical and business outcomes. Against that context, we are seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join our national team. The Senior Data Scientist uses mathematics, statistics, modeling, and data science principles and technology to transform high volumes of complex data into advanced analytic solutions to support multiple high-impact initiatives that run parallel.


Responsibilities


The Senior Data Scientist develops, maintains, and collects structured and unstructured data sets for analysis and reporting. Creates reports, projections, models, and presentations to influence business strategy. In this role, you will make decisions on technical approach for projects that range in complexity. The ideal candidate will have a track record of managing through ambiguity, working with minimal information, prioritizing needs, and delivering results in a highly matrixed and dynamic environment.

In this multi-disciplinary team, you'll have the opportunity to work closely with decision-marking executives and clinicians to shape Humana's Medicaid enterprise population health strategies and initiatives. You will be at the forefront of creating a data driven culture to foster continuous improvement, accelerate growth and outcomes of our members.

Role Responsibilities

  • Create rigorous study designs to improve health outcomes and lower costs for millions of lives we serve, ranging from neonates to seniors.


  • Use statistical and machine learning methods to develop sophisticated models based on large structured and unstructured data set


  • Develop research design to evaluate complex interventions and test changes, and monitor for shifts and trends


  • Build custom data models and perform error analysis to improve models


  • Design analytics experiments to solve various problems and measure the impact of interventions/programs across multiple markets


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and 7 years of applicable experience OR Master's Degree and 3 or more years of experience in Quantitative field (Computer Science, Machine Learning, Research, Statistics


  • Knowledgeable in principles of IHI (Institute for Healthcare Improvement) improvement to advance and sustain better outcomes


  • 3 or more years experience in statistical process control


  • Proficiency in the science of improvements, rapid-cycle testing


  • Experience using Run charts/ time-ordered data to identify the variation


  • Proficiency in using statistical languages such as R, Python, SAS, SPSS, and querying databases using SQL


  • In-depth knowledge in a variety of machine learning and data mining techniques such as clustering, decision tree, artificial neural networks, random forest


  • Experience using databases such as Snowflake, MS SQL Server, Oracle, Vertica, MySQL, SAS, SPSS


  • Advanced predictive modeling and pattern recognition experience


  • Ability to develop, maintain, and collect structured and unstructured data sets for analysis and reporting


  • Create reports, projections, models, and data visualization and presentations to support business strategy and tactics


Preferred Qualifications


  • PHD


  • Experience handling terabyte size data and discovering hidden insights


Vaccine Policy:
