Job Summary

The Project Engineer / Assistant Project Manager assists and supports the Project Manager on assigned projects. The position works under direct supervision, performs routine daily activities, gathers, and distributes information. The Project Engineer must be flexible and adaptable team player, as well as have strong communication and client service skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following, but other duties may be assigned.

  • Ensure project runs smoothly and all documentation is completed on time.
  • Process sub-contract agreements, purchase orders, change orders.
  • Effectively resolve problems and conflicts throughout the job
  • Update and maintain all drawings, specifications and logs.
  • Distribute all documents to subcontractors, maintain document logs.
  • Assist with preparation, updating and maintaining master CPM schedules. of CPM schedules.
  • Receive direction from Project Managers; Project Superintendent and issue RFls.
  • Prepare and maintain RFI logs.
  • Review, evaluate and transmit submittals.
  • Prepare and maintain submittal logs.
  • Prepare and maintain material procurement logs.
  • Perform material procurement functions.
  • Post addenda to drawings.
  • Assist Project Manager in preparation of monthly progress invoices and expedite payment.
  • Prepare and document extra work orders.
  • Review and assemble change order submittals and quantity surveys.
  • Prepare change proposals and send to owner for approval.
  • Prepare internal change proposals, obtain approval.
  • Contract close-out documents (O&M manuals, as-builts etc.).
  • Receive and combine field fiIes with office files.
  • Archive closed project files
  • Document punch list work.
  • Prepare purchase orders.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned

Job Skills & Abilities Guidelines

  • Computer knowledge and efficiency, including Microsoft Office product.
  • Broad understanding of industry.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic math/accounting skills.
  • Functions effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times.
  • Ability to understand and follow directions.
  • Good time management skills and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read drawings and specifications.
  • Candidates must have a clean driving record and be willing to drive to jobsite locations (local - SF/Bay Area).

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree – Construction Management, Engineering or equivalent;
  • Knowledge of construction engineering technology, codes, standards, etc..
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, plus demonstrated ability to manage a team of varied disciplines.
  • Starting salary based on education and experience

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
