What you can expect in a typical day

As an Process Safety Management Coordinator you will be an integral part of our Process Safety and Risk team. The Process Safety Management Coordinator is responsible for developing a process safety strategy and associated performance targets for the business, which includes gaining approval as well as developing and implementing actions appropriate to achieve them. This position supports the mandate to ensure a safe and controlled work environment is maintained while conforming to regulatory requirements.

Your roles and responsibilities:

  • Lead/Oversight of development, implementation, execution and auditing and maintenance of PSM processes (ie. PSSR - Pre Startup Safety Review, MOC - Management of Change, etc)

  • Cultivate trusting relationships and provide expertise on process safety management to the EHS Team

  • Report on PSM information for terminals.

  • Monitor and ensure compliance to PSM processes

  • Act as a content expert and champion for the PSM program

  • Develop and implement PSM standards and Instructions and program activities to develop Process Safety awareness and culture

  • Audit and evaluate Process Safety Management Program elements and critical safeguards

  • Corporate liaison for Terminal Process Safety Program including metrics, industry best practices and compliance

  • Champion and advocate for Incident Management and Process Safety Programs - lead incident investigations

  • Ensure optimal communications within and across teams and with all project stakeholders - Interaction with many internal groups and teams across multiple business units will be required to align projects and programs for execution. Prepare project communication and decision supporting materials including change strategies.

  • Identify and confirm project approach and engage appropriate business and third party resources to develop effective plans to manage the initiative - support business case development for projects and programs

  • Be familiar and stay informed of changes to regulations that apply to the PSM program

Professional skills

  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite; Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

  • Client service mindset

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Time/priority management

  • An analytical mind and inclination for problem-solving

  • Detail oriented; willing to chase discrepancies to the root

Travel

  • Travel is not a requirement for this position.

Education and experience

  • Business or engineering degree
  • 5-10 years within the EHS sector, or equivalent operational experience.
  • Strong experience in change management, not afraid of technology.
  • Experience with PHA-pro and/or TapRoot considered an asset
