Position Title and Salary:                       Court Services Officer I, grade 34, $23.13 hourly

Location of Employment:                      3rd Judicial District, Shawnee County, KS 66603

Job Duties:   Supervise a caseload of juvenile offenders and children in need of care who are placed under court supervision. Work closely with parents, schools, and service providers to address client needs. Interview clients and families and compile information for reports and testimony for the court regarding disposition/sentencing and possible placement options. Maintain timely and accurate chronological records on each client. Identify client needs and make appropriate community referrals when warranted.

Required Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in psychology, sociology, social work, criminal justice or other human services related field.

Preferred qualifications:  Proven verbal and written communication skills.  A minimum of one year experience in one or more of the following within the past five years:

  • Conducting interviews
  • Writing formal reports
  • Working with juveniles and/or families
  • Working with clients with substance abuse and/or mental health issues
