Copper River Enterprise Services is seeking a Security Specialist to analyze all information received for security packages to determine if an appropriate type of request has been submitted that it is consistent with suitability and security requirements relative to the type of position to be filled and its sensitivity level.



Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):


  • Providing extensive support to the Department of State's programs to protect classified National security information at all levels and sensitive but unclassified information within the Department and entrusted to private industry

  • Assisting in the development and issuance of policy standards tor a specific division with a specialized security function in support of division, organization, or agency

  • Assisting in development, preparation, and issuance of program guides for Department programs

  • Monitoring, analyzing, and investigating security violations to determine causes, highlighting program weaknesses, pinpointing responsibility/culpability, and recommending corrective action, as appropriate

  • Coordinating with Senior Officers, Intelligence Community (IC), and other security agencies on office security programs as required

  • Providing support services for a comprehensive security awareness program designed to educate employees conducted using briefings, lectures, audio-visual presentations, and printed media

  • Assisting in developing and producing security awareness media to include posters, handbooks, and similar materials

  • Working independently, with oversight, to advise and assist office personnel on matters of security policy, procedures, and regulations

  • Conducting needed surveys and providing a report of findings for each survey conducted
  • Ensuring security policies are implemented according to procedures without undue interruption of normal operations

  • Providing research services and advising office personnel on national and international
  • security developments

  • Maintaining contact with security officials from other government agencies and contracting firms to facilitate contractor employee's assignment to Department of State contracts

  • Assisting with input for department briefings to senior level officials
  • Reviewing outgoing office correspondence for appropriate office personnel
  • Assisting with processing contractors for assignment to various Department of State contracts and projects

  • Maintaining continuous dialogue with contracting firms to ensure contractor employees are authorized to begin contract performance as expeditiously as possible

  • Assisting with conducting training with contracting firms to ensure their requests for personnel security clearances, visitor authorization requests, and requests for assignment to moderate risk public trust positions arc processed without undue delays in contract performance

Qualifications:


  • Required Clearance:
    • Must be eligible for Top Secret/SCI Clearance

  • Education:
    • Undergraduate degree with three to four years specialized experience in one of the following areas: counterintelligence, investigations, industrial security, dignitary/VIP policy and security standard development, OPSEC, COMSEC, INFOSEC, security countermeasures programs, access system operation and management, personnel protection and protecting classified information, or region desk officer

    • Degree not required with four to six years' experience

  • Knowledge/Experience:
    • Required Knowledge/Experience:
      • Working group assistance

      • Protection, acquisition, and management of goods and services

      • Coordinating with other Government agencies and private sector personnel

      • Communicating in writing and verbally with all levels of personnel

      • Minimum of three (3) years of experience working with public

      • Studying issues and recommending approaches to correct deficiencies or enhance program operations

      • Developing systems and procedures for establishing, operating and assessing the effectiveness of administrative control systems

      • Proficient with Microsoft Word; basic Excel and PowerPoint skill

    • Preferred Knowledge/Experience:
      • Industrial security

      • Information security

      • Security policy review and research

      • Security training

      • Investigations and inspections

      • Security program review, development and implementation

      • Investigating and analyzing unusual security problems, considerations, and issues associated with information and personnel security programs

      • Working knowledge of Federal agencies' security policies and procedures such as the NISPOM, IC directive, and national and international security requirements

      • Understanding of and experience-based familiarity with DoD agencies and their security practices

      • Knowledge of IC policies and procedures
      • Knowledge of IC database of individuals eligible for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI)

    • Physical Requirements:
      • May be required to lift and carry equipment and documents weighing 50 pounds or more
