    The Supervising Behavioral Health Clinician provides clinical supervision, clinical training, and professional development to mental health providers from all divisions of the Behavioral Health Services (BHS) Department. The Supervising BH Clinician supports both group and individual supervision for providers who are early-career professionals, at both the doctoral and masters-level, which includes pre-licensed, newly licensed, and graduate-level interns and externs. This newly developed position reports to the Associate Director of Training & Development, and, as part of the Training & Development (T&D) team, supports the professional development needs and clinical enrichment of the larger BHS department through coordinated clinical training, consultation groups, large group training, or smaller focused continuing education opportunities. The focus of the Supervising BH Clinician is on providing clinical training and education to internal HBH staff and graduate-level trainees. Additional duties will include planning and providing training to external psychologists and psychotherapists through revenue-generating Continuing Education (CE) training and ongoing paid consultation groups for community clinicians. Finally, Supervising BH Clinicians will provide therapy services to established Howard Brown clients. Services provided will follow professional standards and ethical guidelines.     PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide supportive, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive clinical supervision to graduate-level interns and pre-licensed providers within the behavioral health services department
  • Document supervision contact hours and provide ongoing updates and feedback to the AD of T&D
  • Maintain clinical licensure and continuing education requirements
  • Maintain a small caseload of patients and engage them in individual and group therapy services
  • Provide BHS surgery assessment and letter writing as needed
  • Participate in planning and providing didactic and supervisory training to the BHS student training cohort
  • Present continuing education content to psychotherapists and psychologists both internally and externally as part of external education series
  • Facilitate consultation groups for internal and/or external psychotherapists and psychologists interested in building and/or maintaining competency in providing LGBTQ/TGNB competent care
  • Participate in agency onboarding of new staff to the BHS department
  • Document patient contact/progress concisely in the electronic medical record in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Meets weekly utilization standards including, but not limited to, the number of encounters per week.
  • Ensure the highest quality of care by collaborating with other disciplines (i.e., medical, resource advocacy, psychiatry, linkage to care, outreach, drop-in workers) to improve training and education, and client mental and physical health.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities including program evaluation, staff development, continuing education, and outcome assessment.
  • Supervise volunteers and trainees working within behavioral health.
  • Provide consultation to other staff, trainees, and volunteers on clinical issues
  • Attend and participate in all required meetings, including department and program meetings, agency committee meetings, agency all-staff meetings, training, and group consultation.
  • Maintain the highest level of patient and staff confidentiality.
  • Provide timely and succinct feedback to PCPs, case managers and resource advocates, drop-in workers, linkage to care workers and other staff regarding client conditions and possible barriers to care for shared clients.

  • What you will bring to Howard Brown Health: QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Master or Doctoral level degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field
  • Current licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), or as a licensed clinical psychologist in Illinois for at least 3-5 years
  • Demonstrated experience in supervision, individual and group therapy, experience working with trauma, the LGBTQ and BIPOC community
  • Ability to work evening hours and/or Saturdays
  • Preferred:

  • Fluent in Spanish; ability to provide clinical services fluently in Spanish and in English.
  • Knowledge of health disparities, substance use, and domestic violence issues within the LGBTQ community.
  • Completed State of Illinois domestic violence 40-hour training and previous experience working with clients impacted by intimate partner violence
  • Prior experience supervising interns, students, or volunteers.
  • Deaf/HOH communication skills.
