Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Cloud Engineer (Remote)
Overview:
i3 is seeking a highly motivated Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Cloud Engineer to join our Cloud One DevOps IL6 team. The Air Force Cloud One Program is a cloud based infrastructure that hosts mission systems, applications, services, and data in support of Air Force and other DoD agencies. Cloud One incorporates the capabilities of Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) and DevSecOps to provide common services and facilitate cloud application migrations to IL-4, IL-5 and IL-6 (NIPRNet / SIPRNet) AWS and Azure cloud environments. This candidate will be part of a team responsible for the architecture design, planning, management, support, and oversight of the Cloud One OCI environments. This is remote work that can be performed from any location within the United States. This team proactively maintains the existing OCI architecture and ensures adherence to service level agreement (SLA) metrics. We are continuously experimenting with methods to streamline performance, reduce administrative overhead and workload, and deliver a seamless user experience with our customers. This work supports the Cloud One program under the Air Force Lifecycle Management Center Office for Network Integration (AFLCMC/HNI). Cloud One is an existing global, interconnected, virtualized, hybrid, and IT infrastructure hosting mission systems, applications, services, and data serves the U.S. Air Force (USAF) and other Government Customers. Cloud One facilitates the Government's efforts to migrate applications to a cloud environment, allowing the closure of data centers to support the Data Center Optimization Initiative (DCOI) and allowing for increased efficiencies across the entire spectrum of the USAF operations.
Responsibilities:
Design OCI environments and topologies
Guide and contribute to O&S Sprint Planning efforts with planned maintenance work for each sprint
Regularly check-in on team performance to identify issues and blockers
Provide input to Sprint Reviews
OCI security and monitoring solutions implementation, including automated responses
Maximize efficient use of tools and automation (scripting - Terraform, ARM templates)
Configure and troubleshoot cloud, virtual, and physical hardware and software systems
Proactively identify and resolve operational, tooling, and process inefficiencies
Develop and maintain project and design documentation
Develop and maintain process and support documentation
Update Knowledge base and Standard Operating Procedures
Respond to customer requests promptly
Maintain regular contact with customers during support and projects
Provide technical assistance and training to users
This position requires the candidate to be within daily commuting distance to a military installation or other facility with access to classified computing resources for occasional on-site work. When not on-site the position is fully remote.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of nine (9) years of relevant experience in an IT field (or a Master's with seven (7) or a PhD with four (4) years of experience. Additional years of experience may be substituted for degree
At least two (2) years of experience in an OCI environment development and/or engineering
Demonstrated experience with some or all of the following: Networking, VPNs, IaaS, PaaS, SQL, Jenkins, Terrafrom, Ansible, Jira/Confluence, Artifactory, Guacamole.
Knowledge of and experience working with DevSecOps tool chains.
Experience with creating, delegating and prioritizing tickets within an IT ticketing system, such as ServiceNow or Jira.
Experience preparing technical documentation.
Experience working in a team environment with the ability to mentor junior team members.
Security+ or equivalent DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II Certification or higher required
Active DoD clearance required
Desired Skills/Qualifications:
OCI Cloud certification
Experience with other cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
Zero trust architectures
Experience with automation tools including Ansible and Terraform
Experience with containerization tools such as Kubernetes
AF Cloud One or Platform 1 development, engineering, operations and sustainment
In-depth understanding of, and experience as a cloud engineer with OCI, Networking, VPNs, IaaS, PaaS, SQL, storage, Active Directory, F5, Barracuda.
