- Seward Community Co-op Franklin Store
- Looking for motivated leader with a passion for working in a fast paced, customer service oriented natural foods environment.
- Purpose: Using the co-op's End statement as a guide, ensure smooth operation of the front end during designated shifts, providing outstanding customer service and assisting with store security while maintaining a positive and outgoing demeanor.
- Status: Full or Part-time.
- Reports to Assistant Front End manager.
- Supervises and coordinates activities of front end staff.
- Perform cashiering, bagging and customer service job duties.
- Oversee established opening or closing procedures.
- Facilitate shift routines, including front end staff breaks, cashier lane rotation, bag stocking and cart retrieval.
- Ensure adequate cashier, bagging and customer service desk coverage.
- Communicate new updates, procedures, and policies to cashiers and customer service staff.
- Ensure staff adhere to all Front End and co-op policies.
- Follow through when needed and communicate to FE management.
- Facilitate for Front End staff to check email and huddle notes every shift
- Assist front end staff in completing complex sales.
- Assist cashiers in approving checks for payment when supervisor approval is required
- Maintain front end security by ensuring that proper money handling and pick-up procedures are followed.
- Address customer questions and complaints that cannot be resolved by front end staff.
- Communicate with fellow FESL any important updates during shift crossovers.
- Act as the point person for handling all sick calls
- Carry out basic and advanced training for front end staff, as coordinated by front end managers.
- Notify MOD of any situation in which they would need to be involved, such as medical emergencies and security issues.
- Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns during shift as needed, and communicate issues to IT staff or FE management.
- Complete front end cleaning list duties.
- Report front end concerns and suggestions to Front End Managers.
- Meet with Front End Managers as needed.
- Facilitate other tasks assigned by Front End Managers
- Model exemplary employee behavior.
- Attend all Front End and Front End Shift Lead meetings.
- Serve as a Floor Warden as required, according to training received.
- Provide coaching and assistance to Front End staff
- Document any feedback given to Front End employees using established procedures
- Practice patience and openness in customer and staff interactions
- Delegate tasks to staff as needed.
- Adhere to and encourage staff to follow Front End ergonomic guidelines.
- Other duties as assigned
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong leadership skills
- Excellent cashiering skills/knowledge of store/POS system
- Understanding of and adherence to Seward Coop policies
- Reliable, predictable attendance
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
- Strong communication skills
- Complex problem solving skills
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products, email, and computers
- Ability to do math computations to assist customers and cashiers, including addition, subtraction, division, fractions, decimals and percentages.
- Ability to stand, bend, stoop, reach, squat and walk for extended periods of time per shift
- Bend and lift loads, not to exceed 50 pounds.
- Push and pull carts weighing up to 100 pounds.
- Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.
- Ability to freely access all areas of the store including offices, sales floor, back stock areas, and walk-in coolers and freezers.
- Ability to move or handle merchandise throughout the store generally weighing up to 50 pounds
- Multilingual a plus
- Demonstrated ability to work with customers and co-workers from various cultural backgrounds
