The Role
Have you heard? Lumen is building, expanding, and investing in our global Edge Compute platform. We intend to accelerate the data lifecycle, boost app performance, and help drive our customers growth with low-latency, distributed compute for the 4th Industrial Revolution.
To achieve our goals, we are building small agile teams that are responsible for delivering end to end capabilities that include innovating and building entirely new products and continued enhancement of the products we have already brought to the market. To enable these teams, we are bringing a diverse set of talent together and are seeking experienced architects to help guide these small agile teams. The architect will work with the team, team of teams, and solution architects to design, develop, implement, optimize, and maintain our solutions. The architect will be responsible to educate on new initiatives and technologies that help to improve and enhance Lumen Edge Compute.
The Main Responsibilities
This role is within the set core infrastructure teams. These teams are responsible for providing the foundational infrastructure that Lumen Edge runs on as well as the base consumable product for both internal and external customers. As a Lumen Edge Compute Architect, you will have a focus on our orchestration technologies and the technical components the make up the ecosystem. The ideal candidate will meet many of the experience requirements defined below, specific experience in scalable and distributed systems is preferred. In Lumen Edge Compute, we not only build the cloud and bare metal our consumers use, but we also provide the infrastructure that supports our cloud and the entire platform for the rest of the organization.
Architect Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with the technology area's team of teams and solution architects to identify and create optimal solutions for Lumen's Edge Compute offering.
• Collaborate within the small team and across your team of teams to help them understand and implement the designs
• Participate in the organization planning ceremonies and drive designs through the process to delivery of value to the end-user
• Evaluate and recommend changes to development tools, processes, and infrastructure
• Design automation and improvements to the development and release processes
• Design, develop, and deploy modular systems
• Test and examine code written by others and analyze the results
• Regularly review existing systems and make recommendations for improvements.
• Interact with internal consumers, provide support, and make design recommendations and decisions

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.
This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation. Director and VP positions also are eligible for long-term incentive. What We Look For in a Candidate
- Degree in computer science, similar field, or direct equivalent professional experience
- 8+ years relevant architecture experience in systems, compute, network, cloud, and/or software
- Must be comfortable working with a full technology stack (data, back-end, middleware, front-end)
- Experience with network and/or compute orchestration is preferred
- Experience with Software Development is essential
- Experience with a major cloud provider such as Azure, GCP, AWS or similar
- Experience working with multiple API's and orchestrating calls between entries
- Experience with Terraform providers
- Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD) or Behavior Driven Development
- Troubleshooting and analytical skills
