The Bioinformatics Research Scientist Lead conducts data analyses and research with significant impact to the organization or high-priority projects. Develops and executes novel computational approaches to analyze bioinformatics problems and datasets. Provides technical/scientific leadership in design and development of new approaches to complex problems to meet significant project and/or major organizational initiatives. Guides and mentors other scientists and project team members to accomplish project objectives.
This is a critical position working closely with the global ADx Technology organization and has additional ties to the Advanced Diagnostics, General Diagnostics, R&D, Franchise teams and Quest IT
Prepares patent applications, reports, scientific publications, conference presentations, and other communications of analysis results related to significant scientific research aligned with business objectives such as new technology development, product/process development and improvement.
Activities may be focused individual projects or, more usually, assignments as a member of a project team, often working closely with R&D bench scientists, Genetic Counselors, Operations Scientists, and other technical business partners.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Work Experience:
PhD with 3+ year experience, or MS with 5+ years experience, or BS with 7+ years experience in an industrial or academic setting working with clinical and biological data and underlying technologies including bioinformatics methods, database development, query/scripting/programming languages, cloud developement, agile methodology, DevOps and other data analysis tools.
At least 5 years of experience working in a regulated industrial life sciences environment.
Significant relevant publication or patent record, and/or at least 4 years of relevant research and/or development experience on significant new platforms/technologies.
