Credit/Collections Specialist
Description:
The Credit and Collections Analyst is responsible for assisting in the reducing of delinquent balances on customer accounts by contacting customers for payment. Obtaining information related to the creditworthiness and credit/collection status of assigned customers and updating the account and or Finance team as necessary. Responsible for performing credit checks using various sources for granting terms and credit limits. Monitoring customers for exceeded credit limits. This position is in a fast paced goal oriented-metric driven collections department.
Contact customers from aging report(s) regarding past due account balances while maintaining notes related to collection activity
Review customer accounts and initiate appropriate actions on the delinquency, including ship holds, credit holds, credit limit adjustments and up to and
including outside collection agency
Arrange customer payment plans when necessary - either before order is placed, depending on credit worthiness, or after billing, if cash flow issues arise
Research and resolve customer payment discrepancies
Provide customer documentation as requested in order to help eliminate discrepancies/delay in payment
Weekly reporting to Credit & Collection Manager on status of past due accounts
Attend monthly AR call and be prepared to discuss difficult/delinquent accounts
Work internally with Customer Service team and or Sales Representatives to notify them of delinquent accounts when appropriate that will or could cause a
shipping delay
Complete customer credit reference requests
Month End Close duties as assigned

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Must have:
High School Diploma or equivalent
2+ years of experience in an accounting or customer service capacity
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel packages (VLOOKUPs/ Pivot Table)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, positive attitude, and a strong sense of urgency as this is a fast paced environment, and must to have the
ability to make quick decisions based on the type of product we supply to our customers, without leaving exposure for risk of non-payment
