Position Description

The primary responsibility of the Senior Programmer Analyst is to design code to meet functional requirements defined by the Business Analysts, to determine what coding changes must be made, if any, to resolve problems that keep the user from performing their assigned jobs, mentor other programmer/analysts in the design and development of uniform/quality code, assist the Integration Support Manager in the resolution of operational problems. Primary responsibilities will include creating database designs and develop software to add new features to existing systems as provided by the Business Analyst and analyze requests for changes to existing software to determine impact on related systems, discuss changes and enhancements with the end user to discover other opportunities that may be addressed in a change request.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Create database designs and develop software to add new features to existing systems as provided by the Business Analyst. This software should be developed per our defined standards and architectures
  • Make modifications to existing software to handle new business processes.
  • Analyze requests for changes to existing software to determine impact on related systems.
  • Discuss changes and enhancements with the end user to discover other opportunities that may be addressed in a change request.
  • Ability to develop efficient and readable code using current software environment
  • Logic error rate < 1%
  • Data handling error rate < 3%
  • End user satisfaction > 98%
  • Effective utilization of the change management process
  • Ability to understand the software needs of a large variety of business processes
  • Able to demonstrate effective coding and process management skills to less experienced analysts

Experience(s) That Best Prepares You
  • Education: Minimum high school diploma or GED; bachelor s degree from four-year college or university preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years experience within the IT field of relevance.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Company, in its discretion may find appropriate and acceptable.
  • Key Competencies
    • Programming languages including C, C++ and/or PHP.
    • Ability to create SQL queries involving the joining of multiple tables
    • Knowledge of HTML and it s use in formatting web pages
    • Knowledge of the construction/use of XML data sources
    • Expert knowledge of the use of a personal computer and/or laptop.
    • Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
    • Functional knowledge of internal operating systems: Oracle, ATD On-line, sales software and programs, report writer programs such as Discover, etc.
