We are looking for an IT Network Security Specialist to support our client based in Miami Dade County, Florida.

US BASED CANDIDATES ONLY.

This is an on-site or hybrid position. Candidates must be located in or near Miami, Florida.

The project

TECKpert seeks to hire an IT Network Security Specialist to support our client, a government agency based in Miami Dade County, FL.

Job duties include, but are not limited to

  • Running tests and assessments to identify potential security vulnerabilities
  • Developing plans and procedures to safeguard and recover date
  • Enhancing existing security with password protection, firewalls and other tools
  • Installing and maintaining security software to protect data systems
  • Monitoring systems, servers and networks for any signs of incursions
  • Responding to data breaches and malicious malware attacks
  • Simulating data loss scenarios to evaluate the effectiveness of existing recovery plans
  • Training other employees on data safety

The primary responsibility of a Network Security Specialist is to ensure that confidential, private, trade secret and other sensitive data stays out of the hands of data thieves and other unauthorized individuals.


Compensation and Term

This opportunity is for a full-time, one year contract position with possible extensions and pay commensurate with experience up to $65.90/hour or $137,083 per year. Medical, dental, vision and life insurance available after 30 days of hire.

Candidates are expected to work onsite at our client’s location.

Qualifications you need

A successful IT Network Security Specialist possesses or provides the following

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other Information Technology major, or equivalent work experience.
  • High-level programming skills in applicable languages, such as PHP or C
  • Extensive knowledge of network security frameworks
  • Research skills to keep abreast of the latest malware threats and developments in IT network security
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills to identify and diagnose threats
  • Problem-solving skills to develop effective procedures and plans
  • Strong oral and verbal communication skills to write reports, train staff and collaborate with other members of your IT team
  • Multitasking skills to complete other tasks while monitoring data systems
  • Organizational skills to create reports that are clear and easy-to-read
