AECOM has an immediate need for a Project Engineer/Assistant Project Manager with experience in Water/Wastewater in our Philadelphia or Conshohocken, PA and our Newark, DE offices. Responsibilities of the role includes, but not limited to:




  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.


  • Provides budgetary and leadership support to Project Manager with an objective to become a Project Manager in near future


  • Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.


  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures. and development of technical memorandums and design reports.


  • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.


  • Identifies discrepancies in results.


  • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and tests


  • Direct Interaction with clients and regulatory agencies.


  • Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position.

With more than 3,200 Water professionals in all major markets throughout the United States and Canada, AECOM’s Water business line leverages nearly a century of local, national and international project experience to provide today’s municipalities, industries and governments with cost-effective solutions to their Water challenges. We deliver our services—from environmental planning studies to detailed design, construction management, and operations and maintenance—to a wide range of public and private sector clients. Our public sector work encompasses everything from small rural communities to large urban centers, to agencies with regional responsibilities. Minimum Requirements:




  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Chemical, or Environmental engineering with an emphasis in water, wastewater, water resources field required


  • 6+ years of experience on water, wastewater and water resource projects


  • Registered Professional Engineer


  • Proven experience developing engineering deliverables such as engineering reports, design drawings, technical specifications, and other detailed engineering deliverables


  • Demonstrated technical skills and experience working on wastewater, water, water resources or flood protection/resilience projects




Preferred Qualifications:




  • 8+ years of experience on water, wastewater and water resource projects


  • Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental engineering with an emphasis in water/wastewater


  • Registered Professional Engineer licensed in PA and/or other nearby states, or ability to obtain within one year of employment


  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to be client-facing


  • Strong presentation skills


  • Strong commitment to ensuring safe project execution


  • Must have excellent organizational skills and be able to work well in a team environment


  • Makes decisions independently on engineering problems and methods


  • Self-starter and ability to take initiative


  • Client focused service perspective is highly preferred
