Description:
Assigns a variety of patient care resources to patient care units throughout our various campuses. Utilizes in-depth knowledge of unit, departmental, and organizational policies to guide appropriate placement of resources. Collaborates with nursing and unit-based leadership as resources are moved fluidly throughout the organizations.
Temporary non-benefited position working for at least 6 months

The Staffing Clerk will work remotely between the hours of 9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. EST, Monday thru Friday. There is a weekend rotation working Midnight Shift every fourth weekend on Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 p.m. - 5:30 a.m. EST or 11:00 p.m. - 7:30 a.m.

The Staffing Clerk supports Trinity Health FirstChoice nursing pool located at Trinity Health facilities nationwide. The FirstChoice Staffing Clerk assigns a variety of patient care resources to patient care units throughout our various campuses. Utilizes in-depth knowledge of unit, departmental, and organizational policies to guide appropriate placement of resources. Collaborates with nursing and unit based leadership as resources are moved fluidly throughout the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Schedules and reassigns staff to ensure the most qualified, cost-efficient staff are matched to the current needs and by applying and adhering to hospital, nursing, and Central Staffing Office policies and procedures.
  • Communicates regularly with unit-based leadership and staffing colleagues in all hospitals to discuss resources needed, opportunities for colleague reassignment, and admission capacity.
  • Communicates directly with patient care colleagues through a variety of methods for the purpose of increasing the colleagues' availability and flexibility to meet the needs of the patient care units. Schedules available colleagues to open shifts.
  • Enters accurate scheduling, attendance, and timekeeping information into appropriate scheduling software packages. Generates a variety of reports from different programs to provide an accurate illustration of where current resources are assigned.
  • Assists in orientation and training of new staffing Clerks. Recommends appropriate changes in staffing policies as needed to promote efficient and effective assignment of resources.
  • Reports any identified or unresolved problems to appropriate Central Staffing Office leadership for additional follow up.
  • Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships. Approaches conflict in a constructive manner. Assists in identifying problems and providing problem resolution as needed.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Two (2) or more years of staff scheduling experience.
  • Prefer hospital healthcare scheduling experience.
  • High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Additional formal clerical and computer training desirable.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with others internal and external to the organization.
  • Strong attention to detail. Ability to work in a fast paced, high performing environment.
  • Proficient with at least one word processing package and one spreadsheet package. Basic understanding of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Telephone skills and ability to operate office equipment such as personal computers, copies, FAX machines, and printers.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment to set work priorities.
  • Organizational skills to prioritize multiple tasks and adapt quickly to changes and interruptions.
  • Accuracy, attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with a wide range of staff in order to relay and obtain information.
  • Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
  • Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals, and values of Trinity Health.


Pay Range
$16.17 - $24.16 an hour
