The Business Analyst Consultant (Product Owner (PO)) is a critical role to gather requirements to support development of data and analytics solutions for platform and capability enablement businesses in Optum.

You'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates understanding of the portfolio strategy, market needs, and key questions to be answered at each stage of the product lifecycle; Participates in activities within each stage (Ideate, Define, Build, Launch, Manage, Sunset); Knows which activities are completed at which stage and performs them at the right time
  • Explains to peers and stakeholders how the product maps to overall business strategy; Articulates the role the product plays in delivering on the vision
  • Completes all relevant steps and documents decisions clearly; Defines and writes more detailed product requirements based on high-level requirements; Works with cross-functional teams to execute; Participates in pilots and beta groups to validate requirements; Takes feedback and works closely with customers to problem-solve and translate feedback into opportunities (Ideate); Is able to describe learnings to peers; Documents and communicates market problems, characteristics and needs to applicable stakeholders; Develops use-case scenarios to illustrate user/market requirements
  • Prepares business case; Identifies and engages with internal partners required to complete a compelling story
  • Keeps stakeholders current on activities, challenges and opportunities; Provides realistic timelines and strategies
  • Serves as an advocate for the product and its capabilities; Maintains professionalism throughout interactions and reach mutually acceptable agreements
  • Completes work within own area within agreed upon timeframes and according to established procedures, protocols and/or requirements; Demonstrates responsiveness by conveying critical information to decision makers; Demonstrates awareness of the desired outcomes in actions and thoughts; Acts decisively and takes ownership of actions
  • Recognizes need for and impacts of change; Acts as positive role model supporting change; Adapts personally to rapid change in direction

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Healthcare or other related fields
  • 5+ years of experience working in a Business Analyst role
  • 3+ years of experience with Agile methodology
  • 3+ years of project Management experience
  • 2+ years of knowledge and experience in healthcare
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work well within cross-functional teams that have many remote team members
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Solid adherence to timelines and deadlines

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary/hourly range for Colorado residents is $82,100 to $146,900. The salary/hourly range for Connecticut/Nevada residents is $90,500 to $161,600. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
