Purpose of JobThe Asset Liability Management Advisor leads design, development, implementation and management of USAA Interest Rate Risk models. Serves as a subject matter expert in the field of interest rate risk reporting and management for Banks or Bank Holding Companies or Insurance Company and internal and external auditors. Independently assesses and appropriately communicates changes in interest rate risk regulatory proposals and rules and will play a critical role in leading and performing interest rate risk management functions, and in achieving and maintaining interest rate risk compliance.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Identifies and manages existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and the job role.
  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.
  • Follows written risk and compliance policies, standards, and procedures for business activities.
  • Leads cross-functional teams: performing measurement, monitoring, and controls of interest rate exposures for USAA line of business (LOB) or at the enterprise level.
  • Partners with Risk & Compliance partners, Senior Financial Officers and Product Managers to provide analytics and support for interest rate risk and product profitability models that assist in the development of strategic planning for USAA.
  • Leads development and management of analytical models to explain the change in values of assets and liabilities and provide attribution and sensitivity analyses for all inputs and assumptions that may drive gains or losses.
  • Develops recommendations to senior management for hedging strategies to mitigate exposures in excess of tolerances.
  • Consistently interacts with senior management becoming their trusted advisor on financial issues.
  • Makes recommendations to solve day-to-day, as well as strategic financial business problems.
  • Lead generation of Board of Directors Interest Rate Risk Management reporting packages as well as Corporate or Line of Business ALCO packages.
  • Represents Treasury with Risk and other Partners across the Enterprise.
  • Monitors, researches, analyzes, communicates, and implements the requirements and impacts of regulations affecting interest rate risk management and reporting activities.
  • Leads development of policies and procedures for Bank or Enterprise interest rate risk management.
  • Develops implementation strategies and recommendations, and serves as a subject matter expert on ALM efforts.
  • Teaches and mentors others about complex processes, business drivers and systems ensuring information sharing and knowledge transfers.
  • Reviews analysts work and assists management in assigning tasks and managing workflow.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Economic, Computer Science, or a related field required; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • 8 years experience in a corporate treasury, investments or finance position in banking or insurance; OR an advanced degree in Business, Finance, Statistics, Economics or other quantitative discipline or CFA/FRM and 6 years experience in a corporate treasury, investments or finance position.
  • 4 or more years in a position with experience directly related to asset liability management. Experience with asset liability systems or industry standard financial modeling software (such as QRM, Bancware, Kamakura, etc.).
  • Advanced mathematical skills and working knowledge as they relate to modeling and valuation of fixed income instruments and/or derivatives.
  • Working knowledge of ALM requirements of a Bank or Insurance Holding Company.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements that may include OCC, FDIC, NAIC, Basel III, ORSA and the Federal Reserve's regulations.
  • Experience interacting and communicating with various levels of senior management.

  • Experience in ALM strategy

Compensation:

USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The salary range for this position is: $117,600 - $211,700*.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.

*Geographical Differential: Geographic pay differential is additional pay provided to eligible employees working in locations where market pay levels are above the national average.

Shift premium will be addressed on an individual basis for applicable roles that are consistently scheduled for non-core hours.
