This position involves advanced professional engineering work in the design and review of public works and capital projects as well as supervisory work for the Department of Public Works and Capital Projects. Work involves reviewing engineering and construction plans and documents for compliance with codes, regulations and Town standards and dealing with consultants and developers regarding plan approval. Assists the Director of Public Works and Capital Projects with management of personnel, management of the Town’s bonding program as it relates to developer sureties, and assisting with the management of day-to-day activities in the Department. - Bachelor of Science Degree with major course work in civil engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in civil engineering work, including three (3) to five (5) years of management/supervisory responsibility.
- Current registration as a Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia, or ability to obtain within one (1) year of employment.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
- Master’s Degree in civil, environmental, construction management, engineering management or a related field.
- Minimum of four (4) to six (6) years of managerial/supervisory experience.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish.
