Primary Responsibilities :

• Staff Development


• Interviewing, hiring, onboarding, training and evaluations of Business Analyst staff


• Review and approve timecards and PTO


• Provide team direction and ensure workloads are being managed effectively



• Participate in ongoing training and development in order to provide direction and support to the team


• Provide ongoing feedback to individuals and team


• Conduct scheduled 1 : 1 meetings at least once a month with direct reports


• Plan / Define Approach for Gathering Business Requirements


• Participate in the definition of project roles to drive the gathering of detailed business, functional and non-functional requirements


• Identify applicable technical and business stakeholders, using appropriate Stakeholder Analysis tools / approaches to resolve escalation trends


• Define the approach and effort required for defining business requirements


• Define and update the Market JOC’s for provider escalation performance against Business SLA’s


• Define approach for remediation to SLAs


• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to identify specific business requirements to resolve escalation trends


• Conduct current state analysis to gather current business, functional and non-functional requirements and constraints


• Document future state using appropriate tools / processes


• Gather information needed for the definition of requirements (e.g., business use cases, user stories)


• Facilitate all needed requirements-gathering activities (e.g., meetings, workshops, JAD sessions)


• Develop business context diagrams (e.g., business data flows, process flows) to analyze / confirm the definition of project requirements


• Define desired future state requirements based on input from all applicable stakeholders


• Identify the business impact of system / application changes, using appropriate tools as needed


• Identify capability gaps between current state and desired state (e.g., system capacity, emerging technologies)


• Ensure adherence to enterprise standards for gathering and documenting project requirements


• Document and Communicate Business Requirements


• Collaborate with technology stakeholders to communicate business and technical requirements


• Collaborate with project team members to create detailed requirements documents


• Ensure that project requirements are clearly and comprehensively documented, understood and support traceability


• Ensure that project requirements meet all applicable regulations


• Communicate ongoing updates to all stakeholders to ensure understanding of and alignment with project status / changes


• Manage / update requirements documents as needed throughout the design / development process


• Perform reviews with all stakeholders to obtain approval / sign-off of project requirements documents (e.g., walkthroughs)


• Participate in / Support the Solutioning Process


• Support, contribute to and / or facilitate the identification / prioritization of business / process solutions


• Participate in reviews of conceptual designs and provide appropriate guidance / consulting to help ensure that they satisfy all documented requirements (i.

e., business, functional and non-functional)

• Analyze and balance risk / reward considerations for identified solutions (e.g., options analysis)


• Ensure that all stakeholders are fully informed of new / updated solutions, and identify / escalate any issues communicated by stakeholders


• Develop and / or contribute to training programs to support implementation of the solution


• Ensure that identified solutions meet business requirements for all applicable stakeholders (e.g., traceability)


• Participate in Data Analytics Trends of Provider Escalations & Present to Key Stakeholders


• Inventory Management of SLA’s


• Remediation plan execution


• Analytic oversight to bring business value add to Market JOC’s

Required Qualifications :

• Undergraduate Degree (5+ years of comparable work experience beyond the required years of experience may be substituted in lieu of an undergraduate degree)


• 5+ years of experience in leading Business Analyst functions


• 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst


• Ability to interact with business SMEs on behalf of project teams


• Demonstrated advanced knowledge with MS Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, SharePoint, Visio)


• Ability to travel as needed

Preferred Qualifications :

• Bachelor’s degree


• 2+ years of claims experience


• Understanding of workflow-based logic and conceptualize it as an automated solution


• Ability to work effectively independently and within a collaborative team


• Ability to assess and identify needs proactively


• Ability to discuss and present on decisions made to appropriate internal and external individuals / groups


• Effective communication, presentation and interpersonal skills are essential, including the ability to accurately analyze problems, explain solutions, and present technical solutions to end-users in a non-technical manner


• Detail-oriented with solid organizational skills


• Skilled in working with cross-functional teams to affect collaboration, resolution of issues and community building across multiple functions

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only : The salary range for Colorado residents is $66,100 to $118,300. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $72,800 to $129,900.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
