- DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
- Codes and abstracts hospital inpatient and ambulatory records for the purpose of reimbursement, compliance with Federal regulations and data collection. Using ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 classification systems, analyzes and reviews records for diagnoses, operations, procedures, co-morbid conditions and additional data items. Inputs abstracted clinical data into the hospital computer system.
- QUALIFICATIONS
- Professional/Educational
- Certification from the American Health Information Management Association of one or more of the following.
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
- 2 years experience and also recent experience working as an Inpatient Coder in an Acute Care Setting.
- Experience preferred with coding ambulatory cases.
- Experience with Meditech and Clintegrity +.
- Certification from the American Health Information Management Association of one or more of the following.
