Accounts Payable Accountant

Targeting Pay: $33.00-$40.00.hr

Description:

• Coordinates with corporate accounting to perform all accounting related Accounts Payable activities including month-end close processes. Ensure all accounts payable transactions including liabilities and cash disbursements are properly reflected in the general ledger.
• Coordinate with internal audit to perform monthly, quarterly, and annual analysis and testing for corporate-wide payables Sarbanes Oxley requirements. Collaborate regularly with internal and external auditors and recommend changes to ensure controls adequately reflect current accounts payable processes.
• Coordinate with internal and external technical teams to implement strategic technology initiatives related to the Accounts Payable function. Serve as the business lead in the development, planning and implementation of technology projects.
• Utilize accepted project management techniques, including the Agile Scrum methodology, to develop and maintain project plans, monitor progress, and complete projects on time to achieve company and project objectives.
• Research and recommend improvements to schedules, procedures, and systems to enable the timely and accurate accumulation, adjustment, and reporting of financial data.
• Analyze effectiveness of existing reporting tools and recommend improvements to support accounts payable processes and policy compliance. Lead development and utilization of KPI’#CD#s to measure the performance of key accounts payable processes.
• Research and recommend solutions to positively impact accounts payable contributions to corporate liquidity through discounted pay terms, lowest cost payment methods, payables recovery audits, and other potential contributions to the bottom line.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in accounting, business administration, finance, or a related field.
• Five (5) years of progressive experience in a finance or payable-related position.
• Ability to understand systems and technology and how it can deliver efficiencies. Ability to collaborate effectively with IT and other business process owners to effectively utilize cutting-edge technology solutions.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to process, interpret and summarize large amounts of complex data and communicate results to management.
• Advanced MS Excel skills.
• Proficient in using MS Office applications (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, and Excel).
• PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Demonstrated communication and project management skills working with cross-functional teams.
• Advanced degree or professional certifications in finance or payable-related fields (CMA, CPA, CIA, etc.)
• Transportation industry knowledge.
• Experience with Oracle Cloud and Coupa
• Experience with data analytics tools, including Power BI.
