Minimum Requirements :



  • Bachelor's Degree (Psychology preferred)

  • Must be able to type 30 correct wpm

  • Minimum Wonderlic score of 20 & OPAC score of 80%.

  • Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule.


Position Requirements :



  • Ready and available to take calls during an assigned shift.

  • Able to offer good contact to the caller and build rapport.

  • Utilize active listening skills and crisis intervention model.

  • Ability to assess calls.

  • Crisis problem solving : Work collaboratively with callers on their issue(s).

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

  • Conduct follow-up with agency members.

  • Possess team building abilities.

  • Demonstrate conscientious use of work time.

  • Conduct risk assessments.

  • Collaborate with agency supervisor(s).

  • Document all calls handles.


  • Knowledge of mental health resources.

  • Complete Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Training.


Examples of Duties :



  • Conduct computer inquiries.

  • Review case documentation and reports.

  • Maintain confidential, physical and electronic files.

  • Generate reports and utilize appropriate resource materials.

  • Route call to proper the authority.

  • Respond and request assistance from another agency.

  • Receive and enter complaints into CAD system.

  • Divert mental health related calls by de-escalating the caller(s), assessing for risk, providing crisis intervention and referral to crisis, outpatient and community services as appropriate.

  • Completes follow-up work to ensure collaborative action plans are effective, de-escalation and safety continues, and linkage to agency and community referrals are successful as appropriate.
