About the position
As a Senior Property Adjuster at Liberty Mutual Insurance, you will play a crucial role in investigating larger commercial property claims. Your primary responsibilities will include evaluating damages, determining coverage, and setting accurate loss cost estimates. You will be tasked with controlling the insured's exposures and losses, managing consultants, and achieving prompt, fair, and equitable settlements in accordance with fair claims handling requirements. This position requires you to negotiate settlements for claims of varying complexity and perils, ensuring that all actions taken are in line with the company's commitment to integrity and customer service. Your day-to-day activities will involve conducting thorough investigations to gather relevant facts that determine coverage, origin, and extent of loss. You will review financial statements to adjust complex business interruption losses and may conduct on-site appraisals or direct independent adjusters to ascertain facts related to causation, damages, and exposure. Engaging and managing consultants will be a key part of your role, as you will need to monitor costs to ensure they are reasonable and necessary. Maintaining accurate loss cost estimates and reserves for each claim is essential for reporting and financial records. You will keep the insured and other stakeholders informed about the status of claims through clear, timely, and accurate communications. Your ability to effectively communicate in writing on moderately complex coverage issues with minimal review will be vital. You will also be responsible for determining depreciation of claims and affirming or denying coverage based on the facts and policy terms. In addition to these responsibilities, you will be expected to meet the time requirements of the policy and adhere to fair claims handling practices. Your negotiation skills will be put to the test as you work to achieve prompt, fair, and equitable settlements. You will document all activities in the electronic claim file accurately and timely, reflecting the adjustment activities and substantiating any payments made. Participation in quality assurance file review sessions and serving as a technical resource for less experienced claims personnel will also be part of your duties. You may be called upon for catastrophe duty, which may require travel to affected sites for assignments that could last several weeks.
